Lahore: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been transferred to Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital in Lahore due to her deteriorating health.
Her lawyer, who is currently with her in Kot Lakhpat Jail on judicial remand, stated that the court had repeatedly issued written orders and instructed the authorities to ensure timely medical assistance.
However, Advocate Rana Mudassar mentioned that she had been deprived of timely medical care, leading to her worsening condition. The lawyer added that the situation would become clearer after cancer-related tests.
Sources at Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital reported that the PTI leader has been admitted for specific medical tests. Close sources indicated that she is also experiencing difficulty in breathing and that further medical examination will be conducted at a government hospital, including all necessary tests.
It is not the first time that the 72-year-old PTI leader has fallen ill; she was previously admitted to Services Hospital in Lahore after her health deteriorated in May.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid has been imprisoned for over a year, facing multiple charges related to the nationwide protests and riots that occurred on May 9, 2023, following the arrest of PTI founder Imran Khan.
