Jamaat-e-Islami’s Sit-In Continues for Fourth Day Amid Heavy Rain

Rawalpindi: Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan’s sit-in at Liaquat Bagh against rising electricity prices, excessive taxes, and inflation has entered its fourth day.

The participants remain enthusiastic, chanting slogans. Women have also joined the sit-in, with a separate area designated for them. The Metro Bus Service, which had been suspended for three days, has resumed operations on the fourth day.

Jamaat-e-Islami’s leader, Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman, has invited traders, teachers, and labor unions to join the sit-in starting today. An important round of negotiations between Jamaat-e-Islami and government teams is expected today. The participants of the sit-in faced difficulties due to rain in the twin cities.

Hafiz Naeem ur Rehman condemned the government’s attempts to prevent Jamaat-e-Islami’s women workers in Lahore from joining the sit-in, calling it a sign of cowardice.

Previously, Jamaat-e-Islami had presented its stance during initial negotiations, and the government team is expected to provide a detailed response today. Sources indicate that positive developments are anticipated. The sit-in has disrupted commercial activities in nearby markets and streets, and traffic congestion has been reported.

Jamaat-e-Islami rejected the government’s request to move the sit-in from Liaquat Bagh Chowk to Liaquat Bagh, stating that the protest would continue towards Islamabad.
