Government Will Deal Firmly with Those Spreading Hate: Federal Ministers

Islamabad: Federal Defense Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif has warned that there are efforts to incite violence under the guise of religion.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad alongside Federal Minister for Development Ahsan Iqbal, he referred to the ongoing campaign against Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa. The Defense Minister stated that some misguided individuals are targeting the Chief Justice over recent Supreme Court decisions. He clarified that there is no affiliation between the government and the Chief Justice.

He warned that if the campaign against the Chief Justice continues, the state will take action. Referring to a religious political party, he mentioned that certain elements are misusing religion for their small political gains and emphasized that the true face of Islam, which does not endorse threats or violence, should be shown to the public.

He cautioned that the state will not tolerate any unrest based on religion and will act in accordance with the law and constitution.

Minister Ahsan Iqbal, expressing his views during the press conference, reminded that a political party was created in 2018 to spread chaos. He cited religious scholars who have stated that terrorism, sectarianism, and suicide have no connection with Islam.

The Federal Minister emphasized that instead of resorting to violence, people should focus on unity, and he criticized the international community’s ridicule of the nation for these actions. He mentioned that the government is being forced to take action and that they can no longer turn a blind eye. He also noted that the perpetrators of the events of May 9 have yet to be arrested, stressing that the constitution should be respected, not violated.
