Quetta/Mastung: The Baloch Solidarity Committee (BSC) protest on the national highway has entered its third day, with the Balochistan government inviting the protesters for negotiations.
The protest began when protester convoys were barred from attending the Baloch Solidarity Committee’s meeting in Gwadar last week. In Mastung, demonstrators heading to the meeting were dispersed, resulting in 14 people being injured.
The closure of the national highway has severely impacted traffic to Karachi, Khuzdar, Hub, Qalat, Sorab, Turbat, Panjgur, and Gwadar. Additionally, all roads including the Makran Coastal Highway M-8 have been closed, causing significant difficulties for travelers as cargo trucks and passenger vehicles are stranded at various points.
The protesters are demanding the recovery of missing persons and the end of the practice of seizing resources. They argue that all resources should be utilized for the betterment of the people of Balochistan.
‘Doors for Negotiations Remain Open’
Meanwhile, Balochistan’s Home Minister Ziaullah Langove has stated that anti-state agendas are gradually emerging, emphasizing that the government’s doors are open for negotiations.
The Home Minister remarked, “Under a systematic conspiracy, innocent Baloch are being incited against the state,” adding that conspiracies against Pakistan using violence will fail.
Leader of Haq Do Tehreek Demands Restoration of Mobile Services
The leader of the Haq Do Tehreek (HDT) and Balochistan Assembly member Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman stated that every political party and citizen has the right to protest according to the constitution.
Speaking at a press conference, Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman said that for the first time, the government has blocked the province by placing containers. Criticizing the Balochistan government, he mentioned that obstacles were placed at the BSC’s rally in Gwadar and there were reports of firing.
He demanded the restoration of mobile phone and internet services and urged the Balochistan government to wake up. Maulana Hidayat-ur-Rehman also called for the recovery of missing persons.
