Washington: In a speech from the Oval Office at the White House, U.S. President Joe Biden explained his decision to withdraw from the presidential race, stating that the best way forward is to bring new generations to the forefront and that this is the best way to unite the nation.
According to media reports, Biden mentioned that his record as President necessitates running for a second term. However, personal ambitions cannot be allowed to obstruct the preservation of democracy.
It is noteworthy that Biden made this address three days after announcing his withdrawal from the 2024 presidential election on social media. Following a debate on June 27, concerns about his age and mental health had increased, leading more than 30 Democratic lawmakers to publicly call for his resignation.
