Tax on Card Payments at Restaurants Increased Again

Karachi: The tax on card payments at restaurants in Sindh has been increased once again to 15 percent.

According to the Sindh Revenue Board, 58 restaurants and hotels in Karachi have been permitted to continue charging a 15 percent service tax from the public.

This facility is provided for the adjustment of tax payments on restaurant purchases, and only a limited number of restaurants have been granted this permission.

In Sindh’s budget, the tax on card payments was reduced from 15 percent to 8 percent. However, now the tax for debit and credit card payments at restaurants and hotels has been increased back to 15 percent from 8 percent.
