Netflix Subscription Charges Increased Following New 3% Sales Tax Imposed on IT Services

Islamabad: Following the approval of this year’s financial budget, a new tax has been imposed on the video-on-demand streaming service Netflix. Users will now have to pay a 3% sales tax on IT services when paying their subscription fees with a debit card.

According to media reports, non-filer users are already paying a 5% advance tax on international transactions. Additionally, a 4% card transaction charge has been set aside from the Federal Excise Duty.

The additional tax on internet streaming services has been imposed by the Sindh Revenue Board. Banks will collect the extra tax on Netflix.
