Erdogan Expresses Intentions to Restore Diplomatic Relations with Syria

Ankara: Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has expressed his intention to restore diplomatic relations with Syria, stating that he seeks the Russian President and Iraqi Prime Minister’s assistance in normalization efforts. Erdogan mentioned that if President Bashar al-Assad takes a step forward, Turkey will respond positively.

Speaking to the media, President Erdogan stated that they aim to normalize relations with Syria as in the past and are ready to extend an invitation for dialogue to President Bashar al-Assad at any time.

It should be noted that diplomatic relations between Turkey and Syria have been severed since 2011, a situation Erdogan now aims to rectify.
