Drinking Water from Plastic Bottles is a Health Hazard, Experts Warn

Washington: Medical experts have concluded from recent experiments that drinking water from plastic bottles can pose a significant health risk.

A recent study has revealed that chemicals in plastic bottles and other components can be a major cause of type 2 diabetes. Published in the medical journal Diabetes, the study found that Bisphenol A (BPA), a chemical used in the manufacturing of food and beverage packaging, including plastic water bottles, affects the sensitivity of insulin, the hormone that controls blood sugar in the human body.

The researchers have urged the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to set a safe limit for BPA in bottles and other food and beverage containers to ensure they do not pose any risk to consumers.
