1301 Deaths During Hajj Occurred Due to Long Walks in Intense Sun Without Proper Shelter, Saudi Government

Mecca: Saudi Health Minister Fahd bin Abdulrahman has stated that deaths during Hajj occurred due to lack of adequate shelter and long walks in the intense sun without rest.

Fahd bin Abdulrahman mentioned that during the performance of Hajj, 1301 pilgrims passed away. Among the deceased pilgrims, many were elderly and suffering from chronic illnesses.

He highlighted that 83% of the deaths were among those pilgrims who participated in Hajj without proper authorization.

It is noteworthy that according to Egyptian authorities, 672 Egyptian citizens are among the deceased, with 25 still missing. Additionally, there are 236 Indonesians and 98 Indians among those who lost their lives. Citizens from Tunisia, Jordan, Iran, and Senegal are also included in the deceased.
