Men in Police Van Rob Pan Shop in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal

Karachi: In a shocking incident, street criminals used a police vehicle to rob a pan shop in Karachi’s Gulshan-e-Iqbal 13-D area, further highlighting the city’s growing law and order concerns.

Three unidentified men arrived at the shop in a police vehicle on June 12 and robbed the shopkeeper of Rs. 15,000 in cash and cigarettes and other stuff worth up to Rs. 60,000. The robbers forced the shopkeeper into the police van, which did not have a vehicle identification number (VIN) and drove off.

After the initial robbery, the shopkeeper was taken to the Gulshan-e-Iqbal roundabout, where the assailants stole another Rs10,000 from his pocket before leaving him there.

The affected shopkeeper promptly filed a first information report (FIR) with the local police, who have since started an investigation into the incident.

According to the FIR, a similar robbery occurred earlier this month, on June 2, where three men robbed Rs. 7,000 in cash.

This incident is part of a larger trend of increasing street crimes in Karachi, where more than 70 people have lost their lives to criminal activities this year alone.
