New Dehli: A strong earthquake shook New Delhi and parts of Nepal today, causing worry and panic among people. It was a 6.2 magnitude earthquake, which means it was quite powerful.
The earthquake happened in Nepal, but it was felt in India too. The experts who study earthquakes say it happened about 5 kilometers underground. That’s not very deep, so it felt really strong on the surface.
People in New Delhi and Nepal felt the ground shaking for more than 40 seconds. It was a scary moment for many, and they quickly left their homes to stay safe.
In Nepal, there were two earthquakes in just 25 minutes. The first one was a bit smaller, with a magnitude of 4.6. But the second one, the big 6.2 one, came just after.

The shaking was also felt in some other places like Lucknow, Hapur, and Amroha in India, as well as parts of Uttarakhand.

The police in New Delhi warned people not to use elevators and to leave tall buildings to stay safe.
