Balochistan’s first cardio surgeon Dr Mehnaz Marri passes away

KARACHI: Dr Mehnaz Marri, the first ever cardio surgeon of Balochistan, has died due to a sudden brain haemorrhage.

The young doctor got engaged on December 2 and his marriage was scheduled in January next year.

Dr. Mehnaz Marri served as the consultant cardiovascular surgeon at National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NICVD). She was a Gold Medalist Cardiovascular Surgeon who completed her medical education from Agha Khan University.

Dr Mehnaz Marr came from a backward area of Balochistan.

She hailed from Kohlu district of Balochistan.  Coming from an area like Kohlu where conditions for female education was not favourable, she struggled at every stage of her life and went on to become the province first ever cardio surgeon.
