Dubai airport to charge fees from departing passengers

DUBAI: Through the Executive Council Resolution No (8) of 2016 Dubai airport would now be able to charge a 35 Dhiram fee from departing passengers.

The fee is approved by the Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad. Dubai airport would be charging the fee as service fee for airport facilities.

Fee would be collected at ticket issuance by all airlines operating in dubai. Effective from March 1, Dubai aiport will start charging the fee after June 30, 2016.

The fee would be submitted to Dubai Government public treasury to be used for airport infrastructure and increasing capacity. Dubai would be charging around 35 billion in annual departure fees by 2023 from the 100 million passenger.

Dubai International has also scheduled expansion of Terminal 2 and renovation of Terminal 1. Fees would be collected by Dubai Airport authorities.
