Biography
Kapil Sharma hails from the holy city of Amritsar, where he was born to a father working as a police constable and a homemaker mother. After completing his studies in the local Hindu College, Kapil made a humble beginning as a PCO operator. Having a flair for comedy, he started working in a small talk show called “Hasde Hasande Raho”, but he made it big on the Indian television with the standup comedy show called “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”.
Professional Career
Kapil Sharma’s journey to become a successful personality is an eventful one, as he faced disappointment at the beginning of his career when he was first rejected in the auditions for a comedy reality show held in his home city. But he persevered and decided to try again and was finally selected in the auditions of “The Great Indian Laughter Challenge”.
Later, he went on to win the show and bag a prize of Rs 10 lakh. Following this, he participated in a number of comedy reality shows like “Comedy Circus” on Sony TV and became a recognized name on the Indian television. He then went on to produce and host the show called “Comedy Nights with Kapil” in 2013 and it went on to become the most popular comedy show on Indian television.
The show went into trouble in 2014 when there was a fire on its sets and he had a dispute with another artist, Sunil Grover aka Gutthi. He has hosted the dance reality show “Jhalak Dikkhla Ja Season 6” and also featured on some other shows like “Bigg Boss” and “Kaun Banega Crorepati”.
Today, he is one of the most popular stars on Indian television and has been voted as “Indian of the Year” 2014 in Entertainment Category by CNN-IBN. He is also played a lead role in a Bollywood movie.

Despite his small beginnings, Kapil Sharma has made it big in the industry and has purchased a number of properties in Mumbai as well as Amritsar. Amongst his fleet of cars, he has also bought a stylish Range Rover Evoque, which is worth a whopping Rs 55-90 lakh.
