Nisar slams critics, defends NAP implementation

ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan on Thursday has slammed political opponents for criticism on implementation of the anti-terror National Action Plan (NAP).
Chaudhary Nisar, while addressing a news conference, defended government’s anti-terrorism policies as well his ministry’s performance.

Nisar vehemently criticised PPP leadership and the Sindh government for ‘politicking on serious national security issues.’

“War is not only fought with guns, it also has a physiological front but our politicians start criticising government without realising that we all are in a state of war,” he said.

“They exactly do what enemy wishes for,” he observed, adding that PPP is ‘spreading disappointment and despair.’

The minister claimed that effectively implementation of NAP has yielded results.

“We have gained success in war against terrorism. Media can observe a visible decline in terrorism incidents that are now rare in Pakistan,” he said.

About closure of education institutions over security concerns, the minister said schools should not be closed, adding that the federal government has not allowed closure of schools in Islamabad.

“We must fight against atmosphere of fear and terror and must point out those inciting panic among the nation.”

Khan hailed KPK government for taking measures to enhance security at educational institutions.

His criticism on political opponents came days after Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly, Syed Khursheed Shah, called upon the minister to step down following Jan. 20 militant attack on Bacha Khan University in Charsadda.

The fresh countywide fear of security for education intuitions is a consequence of the terrorist attack that left 21 people, most of them students, martyred in Charsadda.
