LONDON: Captain of England football team Wayne Rooney has been named as Player of the Year for the fourth time on Tuesday.

Football Association announced that the 30-year-old Rooney has been voted England’s Player of the Year as he received 37 percent of the votes in a poll of England Supporters Club members.

Wayne Rooney’s five goals in eight England appearances moved the forward onto 50 goals in 2015 and surpassed England’s all time top scorer Sir Bobby Charlton.
Manchester United’s striker previously won the award in 2008, 2009 and 2014. Star goalkeeper of Stoke City Jack Butland was voted Under-21 Player of the Year.
