We won’t allow violation of constitutional principles: Zardari

zr

DUBAI: Former president and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Saturday clarified that his party would not allow violation of constitutional principles.

Reacting to the issuance of a notification by the federal government extending Rangers previous powers in Karachi, Asif Ali Zardari termed it ‘invasion of Sindh’ in the name of law and order. He said the decision shows federation’s ‘dictatorial mindset’, ARY News reported.

The former president clarified that Peoples Party would not allow violation of constitutional principles, nor will it let the extremists destroy the country.

In his message with regard to Benazir Bhutto’s death anniversary, Zardari paid tributes to the ones who lived in exile and proudly accepted executions.

He said that we salute the ones who embraced martyrdom for the sake of democracy in the state.

Yesterday, the federal government notified extension in Rangers policing powers in Karachi for 60 days, what the paramilitary force exercised prior to December 05.

The Sindh government had earlier forwarded the summary of extension of powers to the federation, in which it had curtailed the powers while in some cases it subjected them to CM’s or a senior government functionary’s knowledge.

The summary was turned down by the centre, followed by the rejection of a letter written by the Sindh government protesting the move and insisting on extension of powers as per the resolution passed by the Sindh Assembly.
