LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) late on Tuesday has added legendary batsman Younis Khan and most successful Pakistan Test captain Misbah ul Haq to PCB Cricket Committee.
It is first time in Pakistan Cricket history that active players have been included in the board’s cricket committee as it aims to better understand the demands of the modern game.
In July this year, the PCB had announced plans to introduce a ‘cricketer’s committee’ which was to serve the interests of current and former players and act as a bridge between them and the board.
But on Tuesday, PCB chief Shaharyar Khan revealed that Younis and Misbah had been added to the already functioning ‘cricket committee’.
“This is a very important decision that the Board of Governors has taken. Younis and Misbah will be offering their input purely on cricketing matters whenever they are available,” Shaharyar told reporters in Lahore.
“We are giving importance to the fact that current players who understand the modern game be available for consultation on cricketing matters.”
This seems a good decision as Misbah and Younis have both retired from the limited-overs format and only play Test cricket. Both players are considered to have a very good rapport with current players.
