ISLAMABAD – Pakistani defence analyst and famous TV commentator, Zaid Hamid has sentenced for 8 years and over 1,000 lashes for his outburst for Saudi government.
According to reports of international media, Hamid was detained while on a private visit to the Kingdom with his wife. An official said that he made speech against the Saudi government in a public gathering and was arrested in case of hate speech against Arabs.
However, a confirmation regarding his punishment from Pakistani embassy in Riydah couldn’t been received.
Foreign Office spokesperson Qazi Khalilullah told a news briefing in Islamabad on Thursday, “Our embassy in Riyadh has informed us that Mr Zaid Hamid was arrested about two weeks ago. Since then, the embassy has been working with the local authorities to get consular access,”
