Bolt removed from 100m at Jamaica championships

KINGSTON: The world’s fastest athlete Usain Bolt on Thursday has withdrawn his name from a list of competitors for the 100 meters race at the Jamaica championships.

Jamaica Athletics Administrative Association officials confirmed the news that Bolt pulled out his name just before the 100m final on Friday without elaborating the reason.

Coach Glen Mills and other members of Bolt’s management team did not respond to calls and emails seeking clarification on Thursday.

Bolt was due to compete in the 100 meter marathon in Kingston to regain his form against speedsters such as Yohan Blake and Asafa Powell.

The six-time Olympic gold medalist will defend his 100 and 200 titles in the world championships in August in Beijing.
