Belgium drags Facebook to court

BRUSSELS: Belgium’s Privacy Commission has accused Facebook for tracking its users and has decided to take strict measures against the top social site.

BGC has decided to take Facebook to the court for this allegation.

According to reports, the commission accused that social website for crushing on privacy laws. The commission also said that it couldn’t fine Facebook for the time being, but threatened to pursue legal action if the site didn’t respond adequately to its report — and it has now begun those proceedings.

The commission is hopeful that Facebook will follow its recommendations. The case will be heard in a Belgian court on Thursday.

Facebook has termed these proceedings as “theatrical” and said that they were unexpected.
