Sabeen Mahmud Laid To Rest In Karachi

ISLAMABAD – The funeral of the social activist, Sabeen Mahmud, will be offered today (Saturday) at 1530 local time in Karachi.

Sabeen Mahmud was shot dead in Karachi on Friday while she was going back to home after hosting the show about human rights in Balochistan.

Mama Abdul Qadeer and Farzana Baloch were the two prominent speakers in the seminar named “Un-Silencing Balochistan Take 2.”

Before this, a seminar of same nature was cancelled in the Lahore University of Modern Sciences (LUMS) earlier this month because security agencies asked them cancel the talk featuring Mama Qadeer.

Sabeen was shot four bullets as verified in autopsy on Friday in Karachi.

Sabeen Mahmud was not cynical. She was sarcastic, angry and bold. She was the one who believed in direct action, in marching in streets, in carrying signs and organizing vigils.

The funeral of Sabeen will be offered in Karachi on Saturday at 1530 local time.

Huge number of condemnation of the killing of Sabeen came from all across the world, as she was the voice of silence and rights for the deprived ones.
