Wahab Raiz apologizes to nation for team failure to reach semi-final

ADELAIDE: Pakistan pacer Wahab Riaz apologized to the nation for the Green-shirts failure to move into last four, saying that they did their best to perform well but it was not their day.

The fastest bowler of this world cup, whose ferocious and nasty spell during Friday’s quarter final against Australasia earned him heavy praises from cricket greats across the world, said that he had no ill feeling for fellow pacer Rahat Ali for dropping Shane Watson his ball, saying that he is a teammate and a great bowler.

“Actually it was not our day and we lost the match,” he added.   When asked about sledging with Shane Watson, Wahab Riaz said that when he came to bat, Watson passed some sarcastic comments about him, asking him didn’t he bring the bast with him. When Watson came to bat, it was my turn to respond, he added.

Regarding his fiery spell he said that it sounds great to hear praise from some cricketing greats about my bowling, but it would have been greatest had they won the match.

It is to be mentioned here that Wahab Riaz produced a nasty and ferocious spell and the Australians hopping like cats on a hot tin roof on a bouncy Adelaide track. Defending1 a paltry 213, Pakistan had no option but to come out firing and bowl the Aussies out on Friday. Riaz took the lead and almost handed the Pakistanis an improbable chance of sneaking out a victory. Wasim Akram called Riaz, the “special one.”
