Political leaders hail PM’s decision of endorsing Raza Rabbani’s name as new Senate chairman

ISLAMABAD: Political leaders of various parties have hailed the decision of the Prime Minister to endorse the name of Mian Raza Rabbani as new chairman of the Senate.

The leaders in their comments said that the Prime Minister has set new tradition by fielding consensus candidate for the office of the chairman Senate.
Leader of the opposition in the national assembly Syed Khursheed Shah said open heartedness of the Prime Minister has set a glorious tradition to follow.

Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the Prime Minister adopted the role of a wise leader and his decision will help further strengthen democracy.
Asfandyar Wali said termed it as a historic decision in the political history of the country. Mir Hasil Bizenjo said the Prime Minister set a new example to accommodate and take along all political parties., saying example was not there in the past.
Former prime minister and the central leader of Pakistan People’s party (PPP) Raja Pervez Ashraf said that election of the chairman of the senate is being done with full consensus, saying that it is, in fact, the continuity of the reconciliation policy of the PPP’s Quaid Benazir Bhutto.
He said that it is result of the charter of democracy initiated by the Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and Benazir Bhutto.
He said that it is demand of the time that all the parties should forget their differences and take the decision on merit which could be beneficial for the nation and the country. He thanked Nawaz Sharif for favouring Raza Rabbani. 
The member of the assembly from Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) GG Jamal said that it is welcome sign that all the parties have consensus on the name of Raza Rabbani for chairman senate, saying that this decision is positive for democracy in the country. He also thanked on withdrawing the presidential ordinance regarding FATA.
Shah Gul Baz Afridi said that the coming generations will be proud of the decision of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif.
