Mullah Fazlullah ordered APS attack: ISPR

RAWALPINDI:  Director General (DG) Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major Gen Asim Saleem Bajwa on Thursday said that the group, who attacked Army Public School in Peshawar, was identified, adding that the order to attack the school came from fugitive Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan chief Mullah Fazal Ullah.

The DG ISPR while addressing a press conference gave a detailed briefing regarding operation Zarb-e-Azb, operation Khyber I and over all security situation of the country.

The spokesperson said that the APS attackers stayed for four nights in Jamrud before the attack. He further revealed that the attackers stayed in the house of a prayer leader in Tehkal on the night before the attack.

 

The DG ISPR revealed that one of the leaders of the attackers’ group Atiq-ur-Rehman had been arrested.

Giving details of the group, the DG ISPR said it was a 27-member group, adding that 12 members had been arrested and nine were killed while the rest were still at large.

“The security forces are pursuing the remaining six terrorists to bring them to book,” he said.

Bajwa said six suspects were also arrested in Afghanistan.

The DG ISPR said the arrest in Afghanistan came after Chief of Army Staff met Afghanistan President and other officials in Kabul after APS attack. He said that interrogation from the arrested suspects was underway.

He thanked Afghanistan government for extending cooperation on bordering areas.

In the past, he said, terrorists took advantage of loopholes in border management and communication, but now, he added that bilateral cooperation is growing while border management has also improved.
