Imran Khan demands treason trial against former CJP

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday predicted general elections might be held this year if the proposed judicial commission into poll rigging takes up the cases pending in election tribunals.

He said that the government should have not doubt in its mind that PTI has stepped back from formation of judicial commission for probe of 2013 election rigging, adding that PTI will come on roads again if judicial commission was not formed.

He said judicial commission will term the 2013 election transparent then the PTI will return back to assemblies. He said the resignations of PTI members from National and Punjab assemblies should also be accepted.

Iftikhar-M-Chaudhry

He said planned rigging was done in 2013 elections, adding that he will prove that former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry made a loft of money through rigging of elections.

Imran Khan while talking to media persons at his Banni Gala after return from Saudi Arabia took an exception to the government, former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry and former Supreme Court judge Khalilur Rehman Ramday for alleged fraud in the 2013 election.

“We will prove that Iftikhar Chaudhry and Ramday controlled returning officers,” Khan claimed.

He went on to say that former CJP Chaudhry committed treason against democracy and should be tried under Article Six of the constitution.

Khan once again ruled out the possibility of PTI’s return to National and provincial assemblies and warned that any member who violates party policy will be ousted from the PTI.

National-Assembly

“We will go to assemblies if the judicial commission declares the election legitimate,” Imran Khan said, adding that the probe commission would not be able to do anything if it is established on the basis of the N-league draft. He said the PML-N was scared of the judicial commission.

Speaking on the former chief justice’s Rs20 billion libel notice, Imran said he was waiting for Iftikhar Chaurdhry to face him in the court. “Iftikhar Chaudhry is a traitor to democracy, I will prove this in the court,” he said.

“How did it happen that PML-N grabbed 6.8 million votes in 2008 elections and in 2013 they ended up with more than 15 million votes,” questioned the PTI chief, alleging that this happened because of the rigging carried out by returning officers under the supervision of Iftikhar Chaudhry.

“We will put our and PML-N’s drafts in front of public to compare. If the government has not rigged the election then what are they afraid of? If we agree to PML-N’s draft then there will be no real accountability”, he said.

Elections rigging

Khan further added that a big election fraud has been disclosed in NA 122 after one and a half year. He said that Aitzaz Ahsan and Asif Zardari have also spoken about the role of ROs in alleged rigging.

“Additional Chief Secretaries of Punjab printed thousands of ballet papers in last three days and we have its proof that is why PML-N is afraid of Judicial Commission”, said Imran Khan.

He said that if someone blames them for rigging in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, they will open each and every constituency because, he said, they are not afraid like government. He further said that had the Judicial Commission made a decision, they would have gone to assemblies but now they don’t have any intension to do so.

“We will take part only in Senate election in KP. We are giving last warning to the government to make judicial commission otherwise we have the street power and we can put the country to halt”, said Khan.

The PTI chairman said, “Iftikhar Chaudhry summoned me to court in order to silence me, he did not dare calling Asif Ali Zardari or Faisal Raza Abidi to the apex court”.

“We will prove it in the courts that the ROs helped the current government in rigging the elections and this is why the government now wants to save them”, he said. “If we submit to PMLN’s will, then no accountability would be held in this regard”.

“If the government forms an empowered judicial commission and refers tribunal cases to it, then 2015 would be the elections year”, said Khan.

Commenting on PTI resignations, he demanded for accepting the resignations of PTI members from the national and Punjab assemblies as well.

He categorically stated that as long as the judicial commission does not declare elections to be fair, PTI members will not go to the assemblies.

The skipper continued further that if a PTI member goes to the assemblies, he would no longer have any affiliation with the party.

He also demanded for the registration of cases under the Article-6 against all those involved in electoral irregularities.
