WHO declares Nigeria as free of Ebola virus

ABUJA: World Health Organization (WHO) has declared Nigeria as free of Ebola virus after six weeks with no new cases.

WHO Representative Rui Gama Vaz said that it was a “impressive success story”.

More than 4,500 people have been killed in West Africa, mostly in Liberia, Guinea, and Sierra Leone.

An estimated 70% of those infected died in those countries.

However, European Union foreign ministers will meet in Luxembourg to discuss how to strengthen their response to the threat posed by Ebola.
