KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) claimed that Mr. Najam Sethi facilitated rigging in 35 constituencies during 11 May elections 2013 for which he has enough proof.
The PTI chief said that Mr. Sethi is not appointed PCB chairman on merit and his only qualification is his “35 punctures” promise to Mian Nawaz Sharif.
Mr. Sethi was interim chief minister Punjab at the time of elections and supervised the process.
About proofs, the leader said that he has his own ‘chirya’ (sparrow) and this sparrow will show all proofs of rigging at the right time.
The leader revealed that the ex NADRA chief Tariq Malik’s cellphone record shows that the officer was threatened and forcefully removed from his post because he was ready for finger prints verification of votes.
In an interview with Pakistan’s Jaag TV,Imran Khan said that his party has accepted the 11 May elections in larger national interest but has never accepted rigging and will come on streets and protest against it if the issue is not addressed.
Answering a question, Imran said that Dr.Tahir-ul-Qadri was right in claiming that the current system cannot guarantee fair elections but he participated in the process believing in the honesty of Fakhruddin G Ibrahim (Election commissioner then) and the former chief justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaury while adding that both disappointed him.
The cricketer turned politician termed Taliban’s demands for peace talks in line with the constitution.
Lashing out at Nawaz Sharif’s government and liberals, he asked Prime Minister through the media that on what merit is her daughter Maryam Nawaz Sharif leading the Youth loan scheme? while sarcastically remarking that the so-called liberals are opposing peace dialogue with Taliban for their personal interest as their lavish life and corrupt practices will be in danger if Taliban’s demands are accepted.
While he insisted that his party led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) is de-politicised and working on merit and revealed that his party blocked NATO supply not the KPK government.
It is worthy to note that the leader of Pakistan’s second biggest party in parliament, Imran Khan is facing heavy criticism for supporting peace dialogue with banned TTP while his party workers are taking him to task for not practically taking any action against the rigging in last year’s elections.
