ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan urged that former President of Pakistan and ex. Army Chief General (retired) Pervez Musharaf to be trailed for High Treason act under Article 6.
Nisar was addressing a press conference in Islamabad on Sunday evening when he maintained that tomorrow (Monday) government will approach Supreme Court of Pakistan to form a judicial commission in order to start prosecution of Musharraf under high treason act.
He told the media that all this must not be considered as a personal vendetta against Musharraf.
“Its been approximately five months since our party (PML-N) came into power and none of our act could be categorized as personal revenge. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif had made it clear even before coming into power that Musharraf was forgiven for all personal troubles he caused. But he also maintained that constitutional violations will be dealt according to the law,” he added.
He further informed media that “Federal Investigation Authority (FIA)’s team was constituted to prepare all evidence for this case. All team members hold very fine repute. They all can testify that no one has ever tried to influence them. Their only instruction was to follow the law.”
“First time in the history of Pakistan article six is going to be implemented. It’s very important and sensitive. Tomorrow we will formally request Supreme Court to form a judicial commission for inquiry against Mush under Article Six. Chief Justice will nominate the judicial tribunal. Government will be responsible to follow the instructions of that tribunal,” he added.
