KARACHI: The National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Monday revealed that it could not get success to verify 82,000 votes out of 92,000 votes polled in PS-114 constituency of Karachi during general election of May 11.
The revelation came as NADRA completed the verification process of ballots in the said constituency where only 10,000 of the total votes polled could be successfully confirmed, according to local media.
NADRA’s reports declared that Irfanullah Khan Marwat of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) won the provisional assembly seat PS-114 while Abdul Rauf Siddiqui of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lost with a margin of around 7000 votes on the constituency.
MQM’s Rauf Siddiqui had challenged the success of PML-N’s candidate on PS-114 in election tribunal, alleged that Marwat had made the entire polling staff of the constituency hostage and rigged the elections, in blatant violation of the election laws.
Following Rauf Siddiqui’s complaint, the election tribunal had on Aug 3 directed the NADRA to verify the thumb impressions of voters of certain polling stations in PS-114.
