Washington: Google after the success of its Nexus 4 now gearing up to launch its flagship device Google Nexus 5.
The Nexus 5 is one of the most-awaited Android smartphones of this year and the handset has been recently spotted in new benchmarks on GFXBench (via Phone Arena).
Sony, Samsung, Apple, Nokia, LG, HTC and more smartphone makers have all launched their flagship handsets for this year and now all eyes are on Google to launch its flagship mobile phone for 2013, the Nexus 5.
The Phone Arena report suggests that the T-Rex 2.7 test is a very graphically intensive benchmark, which is designed to represent maximum workload that games will exert on the smartphone. The Nexus 5 has scored 23.1 frames per second, which is on par with the recently-launched iPhone 5S.
Google launched the Nexus 4 in Oct. 2012 and the handset made its way to shelves in November. 2012. However, the company faced a lot of criticism as it couldn’t meet customer demands and the handset was surrounded by supply issues.
Google has already unveiled the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. Usually, the company launches a new operating system along with a new device. Some rumors hint that the Nexus 5 may launch at an unannounced event on Oct. 14 and the handset will be the first device to run on Android 4.4 KitKat.
Previous rumors speculate that the Nexus 5 will sport a 5-inch 1080p FHD display and feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor clocked at 2.26GHz and 2GB of RAM. The smartphone is expected to include a 10-megapixel rear-facing camera and a front-facing camera.
Google will launch the next-generation smartphone nearly an entire year after the release of the Nexus 4. However, the company will have to be careful and ensure a swift and constant supply of the handset after the official launch.
