ANP’s Bashir Bilour laid to rest in Peshawar

Peshawar: Awami National Party (ANP) leader Bashir Ahmed Bilour, who was killed in a deadly suicide bombing outside the residence of ANP leader in Peshawar, was laid to rest in Peshawar after his funeral offered in Colonel Sher Khan Shaheed Stadium at Khyber Road of the city on Sunday noon.

The authorities made strict security measurement in the city as several high profile politicians including Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa governor, ANP Chairman Asfandyar Wali, Chief Minister Amir Haider Khan Hoti, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Spokesman to President House Farhatullah Babar and large number the party workers attended the funeral.

Bashir later laid to rest in graveyard adjacent to the mausoleum of Syed Hassan Pir.

The senior minister of Khyber Pakhtunhua (KPK) succumbed to injuries on Saturday night during his crucial operation at Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar.

Earlier, a severe-intensity blast rocked the famous, populous bazaar of Peshawar, resulting in the death of seven people and injuries to 18.

A suicide bomber blew himself up as Bashir came out of a house where a meeting of the party was under way. The blast broke glasses of nearby buildings and claimed lives of personal assistant of the minister, Noor Mohammad aka Babu and SHO Kabuli Police Station of the provincial capital, Abdul Sattar Khan.

ANP leader Zahid Khan expressed grief over the demise of Bashir Bilour and said that it was a great loss not only for the ANP but for the whole nation.

The Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has claimed the responsibility of the deadly attack.
