Islamabad: Egyptian vice president, Mahmoud Mekki has arrived in Pakistan to attend the four-day ongoing D8 Countries summit in the federal capital.
Mekki was received by federal minister Sheikh Wakkas Akram and others at the at Noor Khan airbase.
The international business and trade summit is being participated by six heads of the member states.
The conference is also being attended by a large number of trade representatives, while stalls have also been set up to lure participants of the all important regional summit.
President Asif Ali Zardari will inaugurate the summit. He will also take over chairmanship of the organization for two years from Nigeria which is its current chairman.
In view of the importance of the event, public holiday has been declared in Islamabad today (Thursday) during which all offices and educational institutions will remain closed.
