Karachi: A man was killed and 18 people have been injured in a blast at a bus stop in Hub Chowki, industrial area of Hub Tehsil of Balochistan and border town near Karachi
Police confirmed that the blat occurred near a bus, carrying employees of Pakistan Air Space and Upper Atmosphere Commission (SUPARCO). The injured have been shifted to a near by Murshad Hospital and some of them to Civil Hospital Karachi.
Heavy contingent of police and Rangers rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area.
Senior Superintendent Police (SSP) Amir Farooqui told media that several passengers have been injured in the blast, apparently targeting the SUPARCO bus.
He said four of the injured were in critical condition, adding that the blast partially damaged the bus. However, he said nature of the blast could not be ascertained so far but the police had found wreckage of a motorcycle on the spot.
A private channel reported that Lashkar-e-Balochistan, an obscure outfit,waging armed insurgency against Pakistan.
