Afridi’s Melbourne Renegades beat Sydney Thunders

Sydney: Melbourne Renegades have beaten Sydney Thunders after a nail biting match by 6 runs at Sydney here on Friday.

Renegades given a target of 141 with the help of great opening partnership between Aaron Finch and Brad Hodge of 82 runs. Hodge remained top scorer who made 44 and Finch scored 41. While Pakistani dual Shahid Afridi and Abdur Razaq made 16 and 14, respectively.

In a response, Thunders also got good partnership between dangerous Chris Gayle and debutant Tim Cruickshank. Gayle played an outstanding inning of 75 with 5 sixes and 3 fours. But no other batsmen gave support to the team.

Pakistani allrounder Shahid Afridi picked up 3 wickets while Shaun Tait and Shane Harwood took 2 wickets each. However, Dirk Nannes not picked any wicket but remained very economical and give only ten runs in his 4 overs.
