Chitral: Police and law enforcement agencies personnel conducted raids for the second straight day in Ayun, a southern town of district Chitral, and picked up some 100 people in a clamp down on protestors, who are campaigning against timber mafia, deforestation and corruption in forest department.
The campaign against deforestation was launched by some two months back when the masses came out against the corruption and reckless dforestration, that is being conducted by the timber mafia.
Last some 18 people from the town were arrested in November in connection with these protest rallies but later on they were released on bail by court.
 A few days back , when negotiations between the protestor campaigners and district government failed, Police and Chitral Scouts were called in by the district government and curfew like situation was imposed in the town.
The law enforcement agencies personal picked up people without search warrants.
As per reports, police and security forces were raiding houses and arresting innocent people illegally, au contraire, without brining into consideration the concept of veil and wall.
On Sunday, a peaceful rally by women and children of the area was tear gassed and baton charged.
The 2nd day of curfew led to shortage of basic necessities in the valley, which has a population of 16, 000 people.
