Karachi: As many as 473 students were conferred graduates degrees besides four gold medals in various disciplines at 4th convocation of Dadabhoy Institute of Higher Education (DIHE) held at Karachi Golf Club.
The break off in Faculty of Business Administration consisted M Phil 6, MBA 145, EMBA 07, BBA 25 and Bcom 13 while, in Faculty of Science, MCS 11, MIT 11, BSCS 22, BSFE 06, B Tech (Hons) 28, B Tech (Pass) 59 and in Faculty of Law, LLB 05.
Those received gold medals included Tauseef Hussain from Faculty of Management Media and Social Sciences, Muhammad Abdullah Taqi from Faculty of Management Media and Social Sciences, Ms Warda Akbar from Faculty of Science and Umair Ahmed from Faculty of Science.
However, the total number of absentia stood at 135 out of 473.
Sindh Senior Minister for Education Pir Mazhar ul Haq while addressing as a chief guests on the occasion felicitated the passed students particularly gold medalists who were bestowed for the outstanding performance throughout their studies.
He said parents play a pivotal role in support of students in acquiring education not only in terms of money but also with their prayers. While advising the students, the senior minister noted that the world is full of challenges and those failed to meet the challenges, left behind.
“This is beginning of fight, you have to struggle whole life. Don’t loose your heart”, he maintained.“We should adopt a habit of tolerance as it is solution of many problems without indulging ourselves in troublesome.”
Sindh Minister for Power and Information Shazia Marri as Guest of Honour said this is unforgettable movements for those awarded with degrees tonight.
Encouraging the students, she said after having degree from the university, a plenty of opportunities are waiting for you to explore yourself. She said we have an unprecedented potential in our nation and we need not to come under influence from anyone else.
The minister said we compare ourselves with developed countries but do not let run democracy on its track when it come. The development of the country could not be ensued unless democracy is prospered according to its soul.
Economist Dr. A. Hafeez Pasha while addressing as key-note speaker said higher education growth raised leap and bound in last decades in the country which is remarkable effort.
He acclaimed Dadabhoy Institute for achieving milestone in short span of time.
He was of the opinion that the number of newly passed graduates are much higher as compare to opportunities, adding the graduates would be multiplied in next years and we will be unable to accommodate them.
Chairman Board of Governors DIHE Abdullah Dadabhoy stressed the need to improve education system, saying education was not being in priorities since inception of the country. The extremism which incurred a colossal loss is also the ultimate reason of lack in education, he added.
Taking on future plans, he said it is a matter of pride that Dadabhoy Foundation has donated 250 acres of its priced land in Hawksbay for the establishment of a World Class University. International consultants from Singapore have been engaged who have conceptualized the design and the ground-breaking ceremony of the initial phase of the construction process will be held soon, in due course. In the first phase of the project, we have planned to initiate academic programs for about three thousand students in Science, Arts, Technology and Business faculties.
The final phase of the University that has been designed to provide facilities of international standards are expected to be completed by the year 2023 which will accommodate around 21,000 students, he concluded.
