Memogate case: CJ says, there will be no military coup in Pakistan

Islamabad:Gone are the days when unconstitutional governments were endorsed by the court, there will be no military take over  in Pakistan  we are here to protect the constitution, remarked the Chief Justice of Pakistan as nine member bench of the apex court resumed hearing into the memogate scandal. A nine-member bench of the apex court headed by CJ was  hearing the  memogate case.

Justice Saqib Nisar remarked that  court cannot be stopped from carrying out its constitutional responsibilities.

Senator Ishaq Dar, PML-N leader and one of the petitioners,  said no one was denying the importance of memo issue and everyone wants an investigation into the matter. It is just the investigation forum that needs to be decided.

Responding to Dar, Justice Saqib Nisar said every institution and person is respectable.

The CJ said that the ISI had requested fro thorough investigation into the matter while the Chief of Army Staff had also submitted his rejoinder in the superior court of the country. He said that ISI chief, army chief and Hussain Haqqani had demanded an inquiry into the issue.

He asked why the federation didn’t submitted its reply in this regard.
