US embassy says, Pakistan aid not stopped

Islamabad: United States  has said that $700 million aid to Pakistan was not stopped, said a statement issued here on Thursday by US embassy in Islamabad.

According to the statement, the US has added a condition to the aid to Islamabad.

The statement noted that the US Senate linked the aid with Pakistan’s efforts to stop smuggling of fertilizers, especially ammonium nitrate to Afghanistan. The ammonium nitrate is used improvised explosive devices (IEDs) against US-led forces in Afghanistan.

This condition was not only set for Pakistan but various other countries, the statement addeded.

 Earlier, Pakistan its reaction to the aid cut said the US would be responsible for defeat in war against terror.
