Lahore: Lahore High Court on Thursday put federal government and Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) on notice in a petition against purchasing sugar from TCP at higher price than the open market price.
Azhar Siddique Advocate has filed the petition submitting that the price of sugar in open market is Rs53 per kilogram while the government was purchasing the commodity at Rs65/per kg from the corporation.
He pealed the court to direct the government not to purchase sugar at higher price than the prevailing prices in the open market.
After preliminary hearing of the petition, the court issued notices to federal government and TCP for December 22, directing them to submit replies by the date.
