Islamabad: President Asif Zardari is not resigning and foreign media reports on his resignation are false and baseless, sources close to the president told media on Wednesday.
They said that Asif Ali Zardari was expected to return Pakistan after routine medical checkup,.
The sources described the news regarding Zardari’s resignation as baseless and fabricated.
US magazine claimed that President Zardari is under extreme pressure over the memogate scandal and has been hospitalised in Dubai for medical checkups, complaining of heartache.
Citing former US official, American magazine Foreign Policy reported US government was informed that Zardari had a ‘minor heart attack’ on Monday night and flew to Dubai via air ambulance on Tuesday.
According to the US magazine, Zardari may have angioplasty on Wednesday and may also resign on account of ‘ill health’.
