Chhattisgarh: Four people were killed and 5 injured after Maoist rebels blew up a bridge in the central Indian state of Chhattisgarh.
The car following the convoy of a politician, fell prey to the bomb. The attack in which the rebels also fired on two other vehicles took place in the Gariyabandh area.
However the convoy escaped the blast. The incident was confirmed by the police. The attack occurred when the Congress party chief of the state, Nandkumar Patel, was returning from a party function.
Maoist rebels are fighting for their rights and are active in several eastern and central states.
74 policemen were killed by the rebels in Dantewada district last year.
