London: The United Kingdom is observing sixth anniversary of deadly terror attacks in London carried out back in 2005.
A series of coordinated suicide attacks were made in London’s public transport system of United Kingdom, during the morning rush hours.
On the morning of Thursday, 7 July 2005, four bombs were detonated, three on London Underground trains in quick succession and a fourth aboard a double-decker bus later in Tavistock Square. 56 people, including the bombers, were killed in the attacks, and about 700 were injured. The explosions were caused by homemade, organic peroxide-based devices packed into rucksacks.
The bombings were followed by a series of attempted attacks on 21 July.
The bombers were identified as Muhammad Sidique khan, Shehzad Tanveer, Germaine Lindsay and Hasib Hussain.
According to Pakistani intelligence sources Zabi uk-Taifi, alleged al-Qaeda commander arrested in Pakistan in January 2009, may have had connections to 7 July 2005 bombings.
