Karachi: Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia in Karachi has organized Monday the “First ASEAN Plus Diplomatic Tournament” at a local golf Club.
Consul Generals of six countries including Indonesia, Thailand, China, Japan, Republic of Korea and Switzerland participated in the tournament.
Indonesian Consul General Mr. Rossalis. R. Adenan said while addressing the conclusion ceremony that the tournament was aimed for fun and strengthening friendship, camaraderie and brotherhood among the consular corps in Karachi.
He said, “Hosting the event is an honor and privilege to me”. He further said that it was the first event of its kind, the next organizer for the next tournament is Japanese Consulate in Karachi, upcoming June.
He was of the view that such type of events would increase the friendship and brotherhood not only among the consular corps in the metropolis, but also imposed positive impacts on the foreign policies of the region.
The championship was concluded though a prize distribution ceremony. The first prize went to the Thailand CG Mr. Udom Sapito, the first runner up was Korean CG Mr. In Ki Lee, the second runner up was Japanese CG Mr. Masaharu Sato, and the third runner up was Chinese CG Zhang Jianxin, while consolation prize is given to Didier Boschung, CG of Switherland, the subsidiary prize for the Longest Drive and for the Nearest to the Pin goes to Mr. Udom Sapito, CG of Thailand and the subsidiary prize for the nearest to the line goes to Mr. Trigustono Supriyanto from Indonesia.
Consul Generals of the regional countries expressed joy while talking to media over the event and hoped that sports diplomacy would open the new doors of peace and prosperity in the continent.
