Cairo: Egypt’s Prime Minister has said that Egyptian President Hosni Mubark, who has been ruling the country for 30 years, may leave the power and country on Thursday amid unprecedented protests.
Shafiq Ahmed said that Mubarak may hand over the power to the Army, Muslim Brotherhood said on its official website on Thursday.
It is also expected that Mubarak would address the nation from presidential palace on Thursday, government run TV said.
Hossan Badrawi, the general secretary of Egypt’s ruling National Democratic Party, told BBC that he hopes Mubarak will transfer power to Vice President Omar Suleiman.
These reports are also looming that Mubarak has left the country, The News Tribe correspondent in Egypt reported. But officials denied any such report.
Army assured the protesters that their demand would be met at every cost.
However, Egypt’s Information Minister, Anas El Fekky, said that Mubarak is still in power and he is not going to leave the it. He said every thing people have hared in media is a rumor.
Central Investigation Agency (CIA) Chief Leon Panetta said there was a “strong possibility” that Mubarak will step down tonight. Egypt’s cabinet spokesman also said the Egyptian dictator was “most likely” to step down.
Egypt’s main opposition party, Muslim Brotherhood, leaders have also said that the news regarding Mubarak departure will soon be published.
