Thatta: A group of armed persons attacked senior Pakistani anchor person, Talat Hussain, and his team in District Thatta, southern area of Pakistan, on Friday evening.
The incident took place near Jati-Moro Road in Tehsil Jati. It is said that more than eight accomplices of former provincial adviser, Ghulam Qadir Malkani, allegedly opened fire when Talat Hussain and his team were reporting about encroachment in the area but they remained unhurt in the incident.
One of the team member Haider Ali told The News Tribe that a few villagers informed their channel that Malkani and his group forcibly evacuated them form their houses. And when our team reached there to confirm the report then we were attacked from various points, he said.
He said they saved their lives by fleeing the spot.
Journalist organisations strongly condemned the incident and demanded that authorities take notice of the incident.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Sindh Sultan Salahuddin Babar Khattak has sought a report about the incident.
Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah has formed a two-member team to investigate the case. The team comprising Regional Police Officer (RPO) Hyderabad and Divisional Police Officer (DPO) Thatta.
Federal Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira assured that strict action would be taken against the persons involved in the incident.
