Islamabad: Pakistan’s minister for Environment Hameed Ullah Jan Afridi has said that biodiversity is the beauty of this planet, but increasing emissions in the air pose great threat to biodiversity and echo system.
He stated this at International Biodiversity Conference of Shah Abdul Latif University Khairpur. He said that Ministry of Environment has chalked out plan of activities by associating students, teachers, representatives of civil society and intellectuals for creating awareness among the masses about the degradation of environment.
He appreciated the intellectual support and contribution of Shah Abdul Latif University for organizing various important events for highlighting the environmental issues.
The minister said that environment is a global issue and Pakistan is the most vulnerable country due to global warming and climate change.
He said, “we have to develop our skills and institutions for disaster management and it is necessary to initiate measures for capacity building and efficiency in respective fields.” Agencies
