Christchurch: Pakistan beat New Zealand by 103 runs in their third and final Twenty20 International played at the Lancaster Park here on Thursday.
Pakistan set New Zealand a challenging total of 183 for victory after an explosive opening partnership and Abdul Razzaq’s fireworks.
Ahmed Shehzad and Mohammad Hafeez capitalised on errant lengths from the Kiwi bowlers to get the innings underway, and Razzaq’s 34 off just 11 balls launched Pakistan to an handsome total that seemed far out of reach, mid-way through the 19th over.
Pakistani opening pair brought up 50 in 4.5 overs and pummeled 14 boundaries during the fielding restrictions to set Pakistan racing towards an impressive total.
In reply, the Black Shirts could not resist against the Pakistani bowlers and were bundled out for only 80, after their top four batsmen went pavilion without scoring. SB Styris made 45 with the help of one 6 and six boundaries.
Skipper Shahid Afridi took four wickets for 14 runs, Abdul Razzaq took 3 for 13 while Tanvir Ahmed and Abdur Rehman took one wicket each.
Abdur Razzaq was nammed Man of the Match for his all-round performance . New Zealand has already won the Twenty20 series with 2-1.
