Karachi: The world’s largest fertilizer plant has begun production in Pakistan on Wednesday.
The energy-efficient plant having annual production capacity of 1.3 million tons of urea started operation, according to Engro Chemicals statement issued here.
The plant equipped with the state-of-the-art technology will save gas, of which the country is facing crisis.
Owing to the deep energy crisis, the country’s fertilizer plants are shutting down operation for 45 days from January 7, 2011.
In this situation, the energy-efficient plant will prove blessing for the country’s agriculture sector.
